Getting a real 'best friend' is what it's like.

This Is What It’s Like To Have A True ‘Best Friend’

Is there some mythical notion that we want to suggest that we have the right person in elementary or high school? Have we won a prize? Will anyone ever get the perfect thing?

Both these questions have been answered in reality yes. Yet this story has even more.

As well as me, my closest friend knows me—sometimes better. he's got far other personal mates and I've got some too. However, if anyone asked me who my best friend was right now, he would probably nail it.

My best friend got me out of the pit of depression while nobody else was watching. My best friend's been hugging me all night as my heart burst and my pride broken. In the wake of a crippling heartbreak, my closest friend cradled me.

My best buddy was a heck of a lot more than just a friend. She was a sister, a husband, a roommate, a maternal figure and—sometimes—an adversary.

You told me the truth when I didn't like it. When I was stubborn, she screamed at me. She told me that when I felt I understood anything, I was being dumb. She fought for me, travelled for me, and cared about me. She has never, above all, left my heart.

We witnessed all of our journeys, escapades, and shenanigans. No matter how many miles we were linked to each other.

They tell love is everlasting, and I will suggest that true friendship will transcend all kinds of love.

Thousands of miles, love affairs, partnerships, divorces, and babies have divided us. Yet the bond was tightly intact. It's never wavered.

And that's all right.

Time going by is nothing but another aspect of our already seasoned relationship. The argument is that as time progresses, we're still in each other's minds, somehow. The argument is that we're all going to reconcile at some point. We're the soulmates.

Without my dear friend, I wouldn't have done the same thing as I did with all my tragedies, failures, or screws. There were so many moments that I wouldn't have known that there was light at the end of the tunnel if it weren't at the other end of the call. Either she was by my side, on the other end of the call, or it was a note in the middle of my life that exploded around me at multiple points of my life.

Your best friend doesn't share your DNA, your family, or even identify with you in a variety of circumstances. But the best friend is your blanket, your shield, and finally your reflection for the light, the evil, the pretty, the ugly, and all those confusing grey areas in between.

And so, my sister in crime, my companion in giggles, my comrade in survival. You really are what it takes to be the best.
